Questions, answered plainly

Is there an app to keep track of the TV shows and movies I watch?

Yes — Trovie is a free TV show and movie tracker app for Android. It is an episode tracker, a watchlist and a watch diary in one: tick off episodes as you watch, and Continue watching lines up the next episode of every show you are part-way through. It also counts your watch time, keeps a day streak and badges, and imports your history from Trakt, IMDb, Simkl and Letterboxd — and from TV Time, if you kept the file it emailed you.

How do I keep track of which episodes I’ve watched?

Open a show and tick off episodes one at a time, or mark a whole season as watched. Each season shows how many you have watched and how long is left, and Continue watching on Home lines up the next episode of every show you are part-way through — an Android home-screen widget keeps the next one a tap away. A film takes one tap, or simply a score.

Does Trovie tell me when a new episode comes out?

Yes. Airing This Week lists new episodes by the day they air, and Trovie sends a notification when a show you track has a new episode or a new season. You choose which notifications you get in Settings.

How does Trovie decide what I should watch next?

Once you have rated a few titles 7 or higher, For You picks titles for you every day — more of them with Trovie Pro — and shows the reason for each: a show or film you liked, what people you follow watched this week, your favourite genre for when you usually watch, or what is trending on Trovie in your region. Every pick is in a language and genre you watch. It leaves out anything you have already watched, rated or saved, and “Not for me” takes a pick off your list.

How much time have I spent watching TV?

Trovie’s Insights works it out from the runtimes of the episodes and films you have marked as watched — an estimate rather than a stopwatch — for any week, month, year or all time, split into shows and movies and set against the period before. Every December, Year in Review adds up the whole year.

Can I still import my TV Time history?

Yes, if you kept the file. TV Time shut down in July 2026 and deleted its accounts, so the export can no longer be requested — but the ZIP it emailed you before then (usually gdpr-data.zip), or the files the TV Time Out or TV Time Liberator browser extensions downloaded, import as they are. Upload one in the app or at trovie.co/import. Episodes you have already ticked stay ticked, and you can undo the whole import for 7 days. If your file will not import, send it to our team from the same screen and it is imported within 3 business days.

Can I import from Trakt, Letterboxd, IMDb or Simkl — and export everything?

Yes. Trakt, IMDb, Simkl and Letterboxd exports import in the app or at trovie.co/import, and a CSV template covers any other tracker. If your app is not listed, send us the file and our team imports it within 3 business days. You can export everything you have tracked as a Trovie file at any time, and bring that file back in later.

Can I share a watchlist with my partner or friends?

Yes. Make a shared watchlist and invite people with a link or a short code; everyone on it can add titles, and each title shows who added it. Switch on “Show what I’ve seen” and members see who has already watched what. Free lists have a member and title limit, and one Trovie Pro member lifts it for the whole list. Everyone on a list signs in with Google.

Will Trovie spoil a show I haven’t finished?

No. Spoilers in comments, Ovi’s answers, character bios and the Character Map stay locked until you have tapped “I’ve seen it” and given the title a score — either one alone keeps them shut. In chat and comments the server holds a spoiler back; it is never just blurred.

Can Trovie tell me who’s who in a show, without spoilers?

Yes — that is the Character Map: who is who in a title’s cast, with family, romance, allies, rivals and work ties, and a short bio for each character written by an AI model from public wikis. TV shows get a separate map for each season, and relationships that would spoil a twist stay hidden until you unlock them. Free members open a few Character Maps, with one ad each; Trovie Pro opens every map.

Can Trovie tell me what is leaving my streaming services?

Yes, in the US and India for now. Pick the services you subscribe to and Home shows what is about to leave each one, soonest first, with each service’s full list of what is leaving and arriving a tap away. Titles on your watchlist are marked on each card. You only pick the services; Trovie never asks for your streaming logins.

Is Trovie a streaming service?

No. Trovie is not a streaming service — it does not host or sell films or shows, and it never asks for your streaming logins. It keeps track of what you watch; your subscriptions play in their own apps, and trailers play in YouTube’s own player.

Do I need an account?

Yes — the app asks for a free Google sign-in when you open it, and that is the only sign-in it offers. It keeps your history, watchlists, streak and shared lists on every device you sign in on. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, in the app or at trovie.co/delete-account. Browsing on this website needs a sign-in too.

Is Trovie free?

Yes. Tracking, Insights, streaks and badges are free, and the app contains ads. Where the optional Trovie Pro upgrade is offered, the app shows what it includes and what it costs before you pay.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet — the iPhone app is coming soon. Trovie is on Android today, and this site works in any browser in the meantime, including the importer at trovie.co/import, so your history is waiting when the iPhone app arrives.

Free with a Google sign-in. On Android now, on iPhone soon — and your watch history can come with you.
