TV Time alternative

Lost TV Time? Bring your history to Trovie.

Trovie is a free TV show and movie tracker app for Android. If you kept the file TV Time sent you, it imports your watched episodes, films, watchlist and ratings — then picks up where you left off with Up Next.

What happened to TV Time

TV Time announced on 2 July 2026 that it was shutting down. On 15 July the service ended and every account was deleted. Nobody can request a TV Time export any more — but a file you downloaded before then still holds your whole history, and that is all Trovie needs.

Why the TV Time app is not working

If TV Time still sits on your phone and will not sign in, load your shows or sync, nothing is wrong with your phone or your connection: the service it talks to is gone, and the accounts behind it were deleted. Reinstalling, updating or clearing its data will not bring your history back. The only copy left is a file you saved before 15 July — which is exactly what the importer below reads.

Which TV Time files work

  • The GDPR archive

    gdpr-data.zip (older ones: tv-time-personal-data.zip)

The ZIP TV Time emailed when you asked for your data before it closed.

  • TV Time Out

    tvtime-export-[date].zip, or its tvtime-series / tvtime-movies files

What the TV Time Out browser extension downloaded.

  • TV Time Liberator

    tv-time-export.zip

What the TV Time Liberator browser extension downloaded.

Several of them in one upload is fine — they are all read. Only the watch history is used; the archive’s other files (sign-in tokens, IP addresses) are never opened. Not sure where yours is? How to find your TV Time export.

How to import it

  1. 1

Find the file. Search your email for “gdpr-data”, or look in the Downloads folder of the computer you used. Keep the ZIP zipped — upload it exactly as it is.

  2. 2

On a computer, open trovie.co/import and sign in with Google. In the app, it is Import your history — on your Profile, or in the Get familiar and set up card on Home.

  3. 3

Choose TV Time and drop the file in. Trovie matches every show and film, and asks you about the few it cannot be sure of.

  4. 4

Check the summary and bring it in. Episodes you have already ticked stay ticked, and you can undo the whole import for 7 days afterwards.

Questions

Why is TV Time not working?

Because the service behind it ended. TV Time shut down on 15 July 2026 and deleted every account, so the app can no longer sign in or load your shows — it is not your phone or your connection, and reinstalling will not bring it back. A file you downloaded before then still holds your history, and Trovie imports it.

Can I still export my data from TV Time?

No. TV Time announced its shutdown on 2 July 2026 and deleted all accounts on 15 July, so an export can no longer be requested. A file you downloaded before then — the GDPR archive, or one from the TV Time Out or TV Time Liberator extensions — still works.

What comes across from TV Time?

Your watched episodes and films with the dates you watched them, the shows and films you saved for later, and your film ratings. Favourites, rewatches, specials, episode ratings, stopped shows and custom lists are listed in the import summary but not brought in.

Is importing free?

Yes. Importing, tracking, stats, streaks and badges are free; the app contains ads. Where the optional Trovie Pro upgrade is offered, the app shows what it includes and what it costs before you pay.

My file will not import. What now?

If the ZIP is password-protected, unzip it, zip the folder again without a password and upload that. If it still will not import, send it to our team from the import screen and it is imported within 3 business days.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet — the iPhone app is coming soon. Trovie is on Android today, and the web importer at trovie.co/import works in any browser, so your history is waiting when the iPhone app arrives.
