Import your watch history

Bring your watchlist, the titles you have watched and your ratings across from another app. Nothing you already have is overwritten, and you can undo the whole import for 7 days afterwards.

Where to get your file

Most of these arrive by email, which is why this page exists — you can upload straight from your computer. Step-by-step help for each is in the export guides.

What comes across

What does not

A title's only opinion on Trovie is its score — so it has no likes, no on-hold or dropped state, no private notes and no per-title tags, and how many times you watched something comes across only from a TV Time export. Anything in your file that has nowhere to go is listed before the import runs, so you know what you are getting rather than finding out afterwards.

If a title cannot be matched

Files from Trakt, IMDb and Simkl name every title with an ID, so those match exactly, as do the shows in a TV Time export. Letterboxd exports — and the films in TV Time's own data export — carry only a name and sometimes a year, so a few titles, remakes especially, need you to say which one you meant. Trovie asks rather than guessing: a wrong film in your library is worse than one it left out, and it tells you how many it skipped either way.

Taking your data out

You can also export from the app — Settings → Export your data. The file is the same format this page reads: your library comes back in, ratings included, while your lists, comments, profile and follows stay in the file as your record.

On your phone

The app can do all of this too — Profile → Import your history — if the file is already on your phone. Whichever you use, the import lands on the same account.
